Artist Bio

Alli Blakeman (They/Them) was raised in South Louisiana and received their BFA at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Their process integrates Louisiana folk art traditions with identity to create a narrative within their sculptural and functional forms.

Since graduating Alli has was worked as a work study at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and recently continued their studio practice in Southern Louisiana.

Artist Statement

Alli’s practice analyzes social constructs and the constraints that come from society. They explore how these constraints effect them and their identity and create narratives based on personal experiences. Utilizing their journey of self exploration they form human figures depicting the challenges and growth with finding yourself through rough textures and exploration of form.
